Intermediate Case

- Clean the intermediate case in a suitable cleaning solvent and air dry.
- Remove the sealer from the case sealing surfaces.
- Inspect the case for being broken or cracked.
- Inspect the output shaft bearing bore (a) for the following conditions:
- A spun bearing
- Cracks
- Inspect the countershaft rear bearing bore (b) for the following conditions:
- A spun bearing
- Cracks
- Inspect the shift shaft bushings (296) for excessive wear.
- Replace the intermediate case if any of the above conditions are found. The intermediate case is only serviced with the front case.
- Inspect the sealing surfaces for damage.
- Repair small scratches or nicks with a soft stone.
- Inspect the case threaded bolt holes for damage.
- Repair any damaged threads.
- Inspect the location pins (70 and 71) for being loose or missing.
- Repair or replace any damaged location pins.
