High Voltage Battery Heat EXCHANGER In The High Voltage System Coolant Circuit, Incorporation
Fill with coolant and bleed the coolant circuit. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING [CNSB, CNTC, CYFB] (DI - 1.8L/2.0L) / COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING WITHOUT COOLING SYSTEM CHARGE KIT - ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP:VAS6096/2 (TDI - 1.6L/2.0L) (Component Location Overview - Cooling System).
The following illustrations show only on component of the refrigerant circuit components for the high voltage system. Additional components not shown here. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM/COOLANT [CRUA, DEJA] / COOLANT SYSTEM/COOLANT [CNSB, CNTC] (Component Location Overview - Cooling System).
Incorporation of the high voltage battery heat exchanger in the refrigerant circuit. Refer to SYSTEM OVERVIEW - REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, VEHICLES WITH HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM .
If there is a concern due to failed cooling of the high voltage system components and the A/C cooling output is OK check the cooling of the high voltage battery heat exchanger via the cooling output test. Refer to COOLING OUTPUT, CHECKING, VEHICLES WITH AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM (WITH HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM) . Pay attention that the high voltage battery heat exchanger is actually cooled. The High Voltage Battery Heater Core Refrigerant Cut-Off Valve -N542- function and the restrictor in the refrigerant circuit must be OK. Refer to SYSTEM OVERVIEW - REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, VEHICLES WITH HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM . If no malfunctions can be determined here, check the incorporation of the High Voltage Battery Coolant Pump -V590-, the Coolant Pump in front of Electric Drive Power and Control Electronics -V508-, the Coolant Change-Over Valve 1 -N632- and the High Voltage Battery Coolant Valve -N688- in the high voltage system coolant circuit as well as the activation and the function. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM/COOLANT [CRUA, DEJA] / COOLANT SYSTEM/COOLANT [CNSB, CNTC] (Component Location Overview - Coolant System). Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function (for the A/C system and the hybrid battery management system).
- High Voltage Battery Coolant Valve -N688-

- Removing and installing. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY COOLANT VALVE -N688-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING and COOLANT PUMP/COOLANT THERMOSTAT [CNSB, CNTC] / COOLANT PUMP/THERMOSTAT [CRUA, DEJA] .
- Check the function and activation of the High Voltage Battery Coolant Pump -V590- and the High Voltage Battery Coolant Valve -N688-. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE HEATER (PTC) -Z115-, INCORPORATION, IN THE COOLANT CIRCUIT , COOLANT PUMP/COOLANT THERMOSTAT [CNSB, CNTC] / COOLANT PUMP/THERMOSTAT [CRUA, DEJA] (Connection Diagram for Coolant Hoses - High Voltage System Cooling Components) and use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function (for the A/C system and hybrid battery management system).
- Coolant Return from the Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1-

- Coolant Supply to the Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1-

- Heat Exchanger for the High Voltage Battery

function (for the hybrid battery management system).NOTE:
The High Voltage Battery Coolant Pump -V590- (and the High Voltage Battery Coolant Valve -N688-) is activated by the Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1- (by the Battery Regulation Control Module -J840-), if cooling is requested for the high voltage system components (the Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1-, the Electric Drive Power and Control Electronics -JX1- and / or the High Voltage Battery Charger Control Module -J1050-). Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function (for hybrid battery management system) and refer to HIGH VOLTAGE HEATER (PTC) -Z115-, INCORPORATION, IN THE COOLANT CIRCUIT , COOLING SYSTEM/COOLANT [CRUA, DEJA] / COOLANT SYSTEM/COOLANT [CNSB, CNTC] (Connection Diagram for Coolant Hoses - High Voltage System Cooling Components).
If there is a complaint due to insufficient cooling of the high voltage system components, check for correct installation on the proper side and proper function. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function (for the hybrid battery management system) and refer to HIGH VOLTAGE HEATER (PTC) -Z115-, INCORPORATION, IN THE COOLANT CIRCUIT , COOLING SYSTEM/COOLANT [CRUA, DEJA] / COOLANT SYSTEM/COOLANT [CNSB, CNTC] (Connection Diagram for Coolant Hoses - High Voltage System Cooling Components).
So that the Electric Drive Power and Control Electronics -JX1- and the High Voltage Battery Charger Control Module -J1050- are cooled, the Coolant Pump in front of Electric Drive Power and Control Electronics -V508- and the Coolant Change-Over Valve 1 - N632- must also be activated (by the respective Engine Control Module (ECM)) and their function must be OK.
