Generator, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With 2.5L TFSI Engine: Removing
-- Turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING, BATTERY IN LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT .
-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .
-- Remove fan shroud. Refer to FAN SHROUD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For engine(s) CNSB, CNTC] , FAN SHROUD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For engine(s) CRUA, DEJA] .
-- Remove the ribbed belt tensioner for the A/C compressor. Refer to CYLINDER BLOCK, BELT PULLEY SIDE [For engine(s) CNSB, CNTC] , CYLINDER BLOCK, BELT PULLEY SIDE [For engine(s) CRUA, DEJA] .
-- Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR .
-- Remove the ribbed belt for the generator and coolant pump. Refer to CYLINDER BLOCK, BELT PULLEY SIDE [For engine(s) CNSB, CNTC] , CYLINDER BLOCK, BELT PULLEY SIDE [For engine(s) CRUA, DEJA] .
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and then remove the idler roller.
-- Remove the bolts -1- and then remove the idler roller.
-- Disconnect the connector -3-.
-- Pry off the protective cap -2- and remove the nut -1- for the 30/B+ terminal.
-- Remove the cable holder -4-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
If the generator is stuck in its bracket, screw in the bolt again up to two rotations.
Carefully strike on bolt heads using flat side of hammer - doing this loosens sleeves of generator mount.
-- Remove the generator -2- downward to the right.
