ISSUE

Content 

Reports of a rubbing or clicking noise emanating from the Steering Column when it is rotated due to a noisy Clock spring. 

CAUSE

Under investigation 

ACTION

To assist JLR in determining the root cause and prevention of parts being changed unnecessarily please carry out the follow; 

Before anything is disturbed record a video or sound recording of the issue where possible creating a clear recording with as little background noise as is possible. 

Remove the column cowl thus eliminating it as the cause of the noise. 

Once the clock spring has been determined as the source of the noise record a second video or sound recording, with the part removed of the clock spring being manually wound lock to lock. Take care not to stress the ribbon in the cassette. These files should be submitted via an EPQR and attached accordingly.
