ISSUE

A Battery Support Unit (BSU) should be connected to the vehicle when completing diagnostic activity in the workshop. BSU Management functionality ensures that a BSU is correctly connected to a vehicle when using PATHFINDER to program modules.

CAUSE

PATHFINDER now incorporates the Battery Support Unit (BSU) Management feature. Applications will be inhibited if the user attempts to launch them with a BSU not fitted or fitted incorrectly.

Extract from Administration Bulletin - Battery Support Unit (BSU) Quick-Start Guide (JAB00049/LAB00055):

'Good battery care has benefits beyond protecting the battery itself - it improves the robustness of module programming and protects the modules against sudden voltage drops.

NOTE: Always connect the BSU before starting any diagnostic sessions.'

PATHFINDER will prompt the Technician clearly if a BSU is not correctly fitted.
