ISSUE
Land Rover has received reports of replacement new or remanufactured 3.0L AJ126 gasoline engines experiencing misfiring and/or rough running for the first few minutes after a cold start. In the majority of cases the misfiring has been primarily on the bank 2 (driver's side) cylinders, and most frequently reported on cylinders #4 and #6.
CAUSE
Unknown. Engineering is currently investigating the root cause of this concern and have identified that the affected engines may have valve clearances, and particularly exhaust valve clearances, that are below specification.
ACTION
Check the clearances of all valves and correct any discrepancies.
Submit an EPQR if valve clearances are not to spec and include the part number and serial number of the replacement engine.
If valve clearances have been checked and are within specifications, perform basic diagnostic procedures as outlined in the TOPIx workshop manual.
