CONDITION SUMMARY
SITUATION:
A 'rattle' noise may be evident from underneath the vehicle in the area of the exhaust downpipe.
CAUSE:
This may be caused by failed welds on the exhaust downpipe heat shield.
ACTION:
Should a Customer express this concern, follow the Service Instruction below.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION
WARNING:
- Do not use damaged or defective tools or equipment, particularly high speed equipment such as grinding wheels. A damaged grinding wheel can disintegrate without warning and cause serious injury.
- Wear suitable eye protection when using grinding, chiseling, or sand blasting equipment.
- Raise and support the vehicle (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 100-02: Jacking and Lifting - Lifting).
- Identify the location of the loose exhaust heat shield.
- Using a suitable tool, remove the three welds from the inside of the bend on the exhaust heat shield.
- Using a suitable tool, remove the three welds from the outside of the bend on the exhaust heat shield.
- Remove and discard both the upper and lower sections of the heat shield.
- Install the upper section of the new heat shield onto the downpipe.
- Install the lower section of the new heat shield onto the downpipe.
- Install the two inner hose clips over the two indented lines on the new heat shield.
- Torque: 6 Nm
- Install the two outer hose clips on the smaller diameter section of the heat shield.
- Torque: 6 Nm
- Lower the vehicle (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 100-02:
Jacking and Lifting - Lifting).
