ISSUE
EPB (Emergency Park Brake) is applied and will not release. The EPB applied light is not on. The ABS (Anti-lock braking system), DSC (Dynamic stability Control) and brake warning lights are on. The "Autonomous Emergency Braking not available" message is displayed.
CAUSE
Software error. This fault will occur in the following situation.
- Vehicle put in to Neutral and IGN (Ignition) turned OFF
- IGN OFF for a period of 15 minutes or longer (Cumulative within a given drive cycle)
- This means that if the driver is making a series of short "Neutral IGN off stops" without the vehicle going to sleep in between then when the stop time adds up to 15 mins the fault will occur.
ACTION
To clear the fault the vehicle needs to go through a sleep cycle as follows.
- IGN ON
- Put transmission into PARK
- IGN OFF
- Exit vehicle and lock it
- Wait 15 minutes before re-entering the vehicle.
