ISSUE

PATHFINDER is unable to decode some Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC), as result 'Unkown DTC' is displayed.

CAUSE

PATHFINDER does not have the required information to decode the reported DTC. This concern is currently being investigated by the PATHFINDER engineering department.

Interim Containment Action (ICA):

Global Diagnostic Support (GDS) have built an application that will decode the majority of these 'Unknown DTC' using a Generic Standard List of DTCs

NOTE: This application will only be displayed in English and is not translated, we also recommend that any DTC that is decoded by the DTC Decoder should be checked in TOPIx for a detailed description of the DTC.

When the manual patch has been installed a new application will be added to PATHFINDER which can be found by selecting 'ECU Diagnostics - Service - DTC Decoder'.

  • When selecting the DTC Decoder you will be presented with operator information that informs you that the application will be using a 'Generic Template' and this application should only be used when you have a 'Unknown DTC' displayed in the ECU menu.
  • Select 'Next'
  • You will be presented with a screen that you will need to enter the module acronym that was displayed as an 'Unknown DTC' in the ECU Menu.
  • For example, Power Control Module add 'PCM'
  • For example, Gateway Module add 'GWM'
  • Once you have entered the module acronym, select 'Select'
  • You will then be provided with a screen that will display the DTC Information that will contain:
  • DTC HEX value
  • DTC (Decoded value)
  • Description
  • Additional Information
