ISSUE
It has been brought to the attention of Jaguar Land Rover, that in a small number of cases, the retailer has not been able to update PATHFINDER on new approved diagnostic equipment.
CAUSE(S)
There can be more than one cause:
- Recovery partition not set to the correct size
- Unwanted files using disk space
- Software being more than two versions out of date
- If the approved diagnostic equipment is allowed to update Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) before PATHFINDER, it may not be possible to complete the installation of PATHFINDER, as the application requires more space than is available on the hard disk.
CONDITION
PATHFINDER displays a warning message that states there is insufficient space on the hard disk to complete the software installation.
- Uninstall any non-Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved software
- Determine the size of the recovery partition:
- 2.1 Open the windows start menu by selecting the windows symbol on the taskbar
- 2.2 Enter 'disk management' into the search box at the bottom of the start menu
- 2.3 Select the option to 'create and format hard disk partitions'
- 2.4 Observe the size of the 'Recovery Partition'
- If the recovery partition is greater than 35GB, it will need to be reduced. Contact Bosch Technical Support Service using the contact details applicable to your market. Then go to step 3
- If the recovery partition is less than 35GB, go to step 3
NOTE: Do NOT update the SDD software until the latest version of PATHFINDER is installed. - Do the actions listed below to uninstall NGI Phase 4 (if installed) and NGI Phase 3:
- 3.1 Close all applications and shut down the approved diagnostic equipment
- 3.2 Switch on the approved diagnostic equipment.NOTE: Do NOT open any applications
- 3.3 Open the Windows start menu
- 3.4 Select Control Panel
- 3.5 Select 'Uninstall a program'
- 3.6 Select NGI_Phase4 in the program list (if NGI_Phase4 is not installed, select NGI_Phase3)
- 3.7 Select Uninstall
- 3.8 The UninstallShield Wizard will open and will ask 'do you want to completely remove the selected application and all of its features?'. Select 'Yes'
- 3.9 Select 'Finish' once the Wizard has completed the uninstallation
- 3.10 Repeat steps 3.6 to 3.9 to uninstall NGI_Phase3 (if not already uninstalled).
PATHFINDER will now download the latest version of software available:
- JLR Connect Updater
- JLR AppLauncher
- PATHFINDER.
When the JLR Connect Updater window is displayed, select 'Install Now'.
The approved diagnostic equipment will shut down and restart during the installation procedure. Wait for the installation to complete.
Select the 'JLR Connect Updater' to display the status of the PATHFINDER software. This should display the message 'The latest version is already installed'. Make sure that the JLR Connect Updater is version 24 or later.
If SDD requests you to install a later version of SDD, before the latest software version of PATHFINDER is installed, select 'No'.
Once the latest version of PATHFINDER is installed, update and install:
- SDD software to the latest version
- Install the NGI updates.
All approved diagnostic applications must be on the latest available version of software before completing any updates or replacement of a module.
