CONDITION SUMMARY

Situation:  A customer may express a concern that when in SPORT mode the transmission will only change gears manually (by paddles or stick) and will not revert back to AUTO mode.

Cause:  An incorrect calibration causes the vehicle to enter manual only mode when All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) selects a mode of operation.

Suggested Customer Concern Code MM3. 

Action:  Should a customer express this concern, follow the Diagnostic Procedure below.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

CAUTION: This procedure requires SDD DVD142.05 and Calibration File 214 loaded or later.
  1. Connect the JLR approved battery support unit.
  2. Connect SDD to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session, by reading the vehicle identification number (VIN) for the current vehicle and initiating the data collect sequence.
  3. Follow the SDD prompts.
  4. If the hyperlink is not available, the application can be found as follows:
    • Select the Diagnosis Session Type.
    • Select any of the following symptoms:
      • Powertrain - Automatic transmission and transaxle - Automatic transmission and transaxle symptoms - Will not change down gear
      • Powertrain - Automatic transmission and transaxle - Automatic transmission and transaxle symptoms - Will not change up gear
    • From 'Recommendations', run: Configure existing module - Transmission control module
  5. When all of the tasks are complete, exit the current session by selecting the Session tab and then select the Close Session option.
  6. Disconnect SDD and the JLR approved battery support unit.
