CONDITION SUMMARY

SITUATION: 

A high pitched whistle noise coming from the gap between the rear door quarter glass and the rear door trim panel when the climate control fan speed is set at 4 and above.

CAUSE: 

An air leak path is present between the rear door quarter glass and the rear door trim panel.

Suggested customer concern code - EQ.

ACTION: 

Follow the Service Instruction below.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION

NOTE:

RANGE ROVER VEHICLES ONLY

  1. Remove the rear door electric window blind (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 501-05C: Interior trim and Ornamentation - Removal and Installation - Electric Rear Door Blind).

    Range Rover Sport Vehicles only 

  2. Remove the rear door window blind (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 501-05C: Interior trim and Ornamentation - Removal and Installation - Rear Door Window Blind).

    All Vehicles

  3. G16537152

    Using a suitable cleaning method, clean the highlighted area.

  4. G16537153

    Cut a 300 mm length of 3M 08612 sealer.

  5. NOTE: The 3M 08612 sealer must be applied all the way up to the window glass guide channel between the rear door quarter glass frame and the rear door window glass.

    Using light finger pressure, install the 300 mm length of 3M 08612 sealer into the area shown in the illustration.

  6. G16537155

    Using light finger pressure, make sure the 3M 08612 sealer is installed to cover the gap between the rear door quarter glass frame and the rear door trim panel.

    Range Rover Sport Vehicles only

  7. Install the rear door window blind (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 501-05C: Interior trim and Ornamentation - Removal and Installation - Rear Door Window Blind).

    Range Rover Vehicles only 

  8. Install the rear door electric window blind (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 501-05C: Interior trim and Ornamentation - Removal and Installation - Electric Rear Door Blind).

    All Vehicles 

  9. Repeat steps  1 -  8 for the other side.
  10. Using the Touchscreen, set the climate control fan speed to increments from 4 to 7.

    Inspect the rear door quarter glass areas to make sure the noise is no longer present.

    • If the noise is still present, raise a Technical Assistance (TA).
