CONDITION SUMMARY

Situation:  A 'creak' or mechanical interference noise may be evident when lowering/raising a door window(s).

Cause:  This may be caused by contamination from aggregate-type dust and road film.

Action:  Should a customer express this concern, follow the Service Instruction below.

NOTE: one felt pad will repair two door window regulators; two pads required for all four doors.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION

  1. Remove the front right door window (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 501-11: Glass, Frames and Mechanisms).
  2. NOTE: front right door window shown; all others similar.

    With a suitable glass cleaner, make sure the door window is clean.

  3. NOTE: repeat this step for both door window retaining clips.

    Using a suitable cleaner, make sure the window retaining clips are clean and free from silicone.

  4. Using a felt pad from the Squeaks & Rattles kit, cut out a rectangle measuring 50mm x 40mm.
  5. NOTE: repeat this step for both door window retaining clips.

    Wrap the felt pad around the door window as shown to insulate the door window from the retaining clip.

  6. Install the door window (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 501-11: Glass, Frames and Mechanisms).
  7. Fully lower and raise the door window three times to confirm the noise has been eliminated.
    • If the noise is still evident, replace the door window regulator (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 501-11: Glass, Frames and Mechanisms).
  8. Repeat steps  1- 7 to the other three door windows.
