Procedure For First Starting Engine After Filling Refrigerant Circuit
Installed On Vehicles With High Voltage Systems (Hybrid Vehicles)
For all procedures on vehicles with a high-voltage system, pay attention to the additional warnings for these vehicles. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING ON VEHICLES WITH HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM .
- After the installation of the electrically-driven A/C compressor and the subsequent filling of the refrigerant circuit, start the A/C compressor for the first time using the "compressor intake" function for the basic setting. The A/C compressor may otherwise become damaged if refrigerant oil was improperly stored in the A/C compressor compression chamber before installation. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" Function (A/C System).
- Only activate the electrically driven A/C compressor when the refrigerant circuits are filled. The A/C compressor may become damaged if the A/C compressor is run while the refrigerant circuit is empty. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" Function (A/C System).
- All Removed Parts Are Installed Once Again.
- The refrigerant circuit is filled. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, DISCHARGING WITH A/C SERVICE STATION (R134a) / REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, EVACUATING WITH A/C SERVICE STATION (R134a) / REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, CHARGING WITH A/C SERVICE STATION (R134a) (Refrigerant R134a Servicing, Refrigerant Circuit, Working with A/C Service Station) or REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, DISCHARGING (R1234yf) / REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, EVACUATING (R1234yf) / REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, CHARGING (R1234yf) .
-- Turn on the ignition.
-- Check the DTC memory for the Climatronic Control Module -J255- display and control head and erase any displayed malfunctions, if necessary. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
-- If the A/C compressor was removed or removed from the engine operate the Electrical A/C Compressor -V470- via the "compressor cut-in function". Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function (the A/C system).
The A/C compressor may otherwise become damaged if before installation (or after removal), refrigerant oil was improperly stored (or secured) in the A/C compressor compression chamber.
Read the information for starting the A/C system after filling. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, OPERATING AFTER CHARGING [R134a] / A/C SYSTEM, GENERAL INFORMATION (R134a) or A/C SYSTEM, OPERATING AFTER CHARGING [R1234yf] . After recharging, before activating the A/C system.
For Vehicles Without A High Voltage System
- All Removed Parts Are Reinstalled.
- The refrigerant circuit is filled. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, GENERAL INFORMATION (R134a) or WORKING WITH A/C SERVICE STATION (R1234yf) .
-- Open all instrument panel vents and, if present, the vents in the center console.
-- Turn on the ignition.
Vehicles With Manual Climate Control System (Without High Voltage System
- The indicator lamp in the AC (or A/C ) button -5- does not light up.
-- Start the engine with the A/C compressor switched off and wait until the engine idling speed stabilizes.
Adjust the following settings on the A/C Control Module -J301- control head:
- Turn the temperature regulator -1- to the "cold" stop.
- A/C compressor on: the indicator lamp in the AC (or A/C ) button -5- illuminates.
Vehicles with Automatic Climate Control System (without High Voltage System)
- The indicator lamp in the AC (or A/C ) button -8- does not light up.
-- Start the engine with the A/C compressor switched off and wait until the engine idling speed stabilizes.
Adjust the following settings on the Climatronic Control Module -J255- control head:
- "Auto" mode: the indicator lamp in the AUTO button -11- illuminates.
- Set the temperature preset "cold" via the regulators -1 and 7- : "LO" for the driver and front passenger side in the display -3- on the Climatronic Control Module -J255-.
- Turn the fresh air blower regulator -9- to the maximum speed.
- A/C compressor on: the indicator lamp in the AC (or A/C ) button -8- illuminates.
Continuation For All Vehicles (Without High Voltage System)
-- Let the engine and A/C compressor idle for at least five minutes.
