Fuel Delivery Unit/Fuel Level Sensor, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With All Wheel Drive (AWD): Installing

NOTE:

Replace The Seal After Removal.

Make sure the fuel hoses are secure.

Pull on the connectors to make sure they are securely connected and correctly locked.

Be careful when replacing the fuel delivery unit that the floater arm on the fuel level sensor is not bent.

Vehicles With 4-Cylinder Engine:

-- Install the suction jet pipe -1- and delivery line -2- until they click into place.

-- Carefully guide the fuel delivery unit with the fuel gauge sensor through the opening into the fuel tank.

-- Connect the Fuel Level Sensor 2 -G169- connector -1- on the sealing flange.

Vehicles With 5-Cylinder Engine:

-- Attach the delivery line -1- all the way and secure with the clamp -2-.

-- Install the suction jet pipe -3- until it engages audibly.

-- Carefully guide the fuel delivery unit with the fuel gauge sensor through the opening into the fuel tank.

-- Connect the Fuel Level Sensor 2 -G169- connector -1- on the sealing flange.

Continuation For All Vehicles:

-- Install a new sealing flange seal -1-. It must be dry.

CAUTION:

Risk of leaking.

  • When inserting the sealing flange, the seal must not be damaged or crushed.

-- Bring the sealing flange with the lifter fuel delivery unit into the installation position.

  • The tab -2- on the sealing flange must face the hole -arrow- in the locking ring and rest between the tabs -3 and 4- on the fuel tank.

-- Push the sealing flange downward against the spring force.

-- Insert the locking ring and fasten using the :T10202  .

-- Attach the fuel lines until they engage audibly.

-- Push the fuel line on again and pull it to make sure the connector coupling is engaged correctly.

-- Vehicles with parking heater: install the fuel line to the parking heater metering pump on the sealing flange. Refer to the appropriate service information. .

Further installation is performed in reverse order of removal, while noting the following:

-- Install the rear bench seat. Refer to BENCH SEAT/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLINGRear Seats .

-- Connect the battery while following all steps after connecting the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- It must be ensured that at least 5 liters of fuel are in the fuel tank after installing the fuel delivery unit.
