What to check

  • Check fuses/relays and battery voltage (while commanding actuator) — confirm ~12 V supply
  • Measure supply voltage at actuator connector during command and measure current draw if possible
  • Verify connector pin security and continuity to module ground and power

Signal parameters

  • Actuator supply voltage: near battery voltage (~11–14 V) when commanded

Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Safety first: park on level surface, chock wheels, support vehicle securely before removing wheels or working on brake hardware.
  2. Connect full-feature scan tool, confirm C0614 and note related codes and freeze-frame data.
  3. Use the scan tool to command the right EPB actuator to apply and release while an assistant watches/listens at the wheel and you monitor actuator connector voltage and current.
  4. If actuator does not move but receives proper voltage, disconnect connector and measure motor resistance and insulation; compare to known-good values if available.
  5. Inspect and wiggle wiring and connector while commanding to check for intermittent faults; repair any damaged wiring or corroded terminals.
  6. If motor draws excessive current or is locked, remove the caliper/actuator assembly and check for seized pistons, rusted components or foreign objects. Free or replace components as needed.
  7. If actuator receives no or low voltage when commanded, trace power/ground back to fuse/relay and EPB/ABS module outputs. Check module grounds and supply circuits.
  8. If actuator and wiring are good but module output is missing or inconsistent, test module outputs and CAN communication; consider module replacement or reprogramming only after confirming wiring and actuator integrity.
  9. After repairs, clear codes, perform full system relearn/calibration procedure per service manual (EPB relearn), and re-test operation under load and at rest.
  10. Road-test or roll the vehicle to confirm brake releases fully and no dragging occurs; verify no reoccurrence of the code.
