Causes

  • Corroded, loose or disconnected connector at the right front position sensor
  • Damaged wiring harness (short to power/ground or open circuit) to the sensor
  • Failed right front position sensor
  • Mechanical binding, seized linkage or misalignment of the position sensor
  • Water intrusion or contamination at sensor or connector
  • Blown fuse or poor ground affecting the sensor supply

Symptoms

  • Chassis/suspension warning light or general malfunction indicator illuminated
  • Vehicle ride height incorrect at right front (sagging, high or uneven stance)
  • Suspension leveling or auto-ride-height function inoperative or behaving erratically
  • Possible diagnostic trouble codes stored and intermittent system operation
  • Vehicle leaning or uneven handling at low speed

What to check

  • Read all stored chassis and suspension codes with a capable scan tool; record freeze-frame and occurrence counts
  • Inspect right front sensor and connector for corrosion, bent pins, damaged locking tab or water ingress
  • Visually inspect wiring harness along routing for chafing, pinches, or repairs
  • Check fuses and known ground points for the suspension/control module
  • Attempt to reproduce fault while observing live data for the right front sensor
  • Perform a wiggle test on harness and connector while watching live sensor data for dropouts or erratic values

Signal parameters

  • Reference supply voltage to sensor (typically 5 V — confirm factory spec)
  • Sensor signal voltage at rest and while moving linkage (typical range ~0.5–4.5 V for many position sensors; consult OEM spec)
  • Signal continuity and resistance of sensor (check per service manual)
  • Signal frequency if the sensor is frequency-output type
  • Ground circuit continuity to chassis/ECM ground
  • Live data position value (percent/mm) and whether it changes smoothly when suspension is moved

Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Connect a factory-level or equivalent scan tool; confirm C0620 and any related codes and note freeze frame data
  2. Perform visual inspection of the right front sensor, linkage and connector for damage, contamination, water intrusion or loose mounting
  3. With ignition on, back-probe the sensor connector: verify presence of reference voltage, proper ground, and sensor signal while moving the suspension linkage by hand. Compare readings to factory ranges
  4. If reference voltage or ground is missing, trace and repair wiring, fuses, or grounds to the control module
  5. If reference and ground are present but signal is fixed, intermittent, or out of range, inspect wiring for opens/shorts and perform continuity/resistance checks to the control module
  6. Perform a wiggle test of the harness and connector while monitoring live data to detect intermittent faults
  7. If wiring checks good, swap the right front sensor with a known-good identical corner sensor (if available) to see if the code follows the sensor — this isolates sensor vs module/wiring
  8. If sensor replacement is required, use OEM replacement and follow any required sensor calibration/initialization procedure using a scan tool
  9. After repair or replacement, clear codes and verify proper operation and that code does not return; road test and re-check live values

Likely causes

  • Damaged/contaminated connector or wiring to the right front sensor
  • Failed position sensor element
  • Physical damage or binding of sensor linkage
  • Corrosion or moisture in harness connector

Fault status

⚠️ Status
Right Front Position Sensor circuit malfunction detected — signal absent, out of range, or intermittent.
🟡 Repair difficulty: Medium
