Diagnostic algorithm

  2. Perform a visual inspection of the left rear sensor, connector, and harness. Look for corrosion, pin damage, broken clips, or rubbing.
  3. With connector disconnected, inspect pins for corrosion/bent pins and ensure good mating. Clean and reseal if necessary.
  4. Backprobe the sensor connector with ignition ON and measure reference voltage and signal while moving the suspension or turning the wheel (as applicable). Compare to expected signal behavior.
  5. If sensor is passive, measure AC output while rotating wheel or operating suspension; if active, check DC signal change with movement.
  6. Perform a continuity/short-to-power/short-to-ground check between the sensor connector and the control module harness connector. Repair any wiring faults.
  7. Wiggle test the harness and connector while observing live data to detect intermittent faults caused by movement/vibration.
  8. If wiring, connector, and grounds are good but sensor signal out of spec, replace the left rear position sensor and retest.
  9. After repair, clear codes and perform a road or suspension/height cycle to confirm the fault does not return and sensor readings are within expected range.
  10. If problem persists after sensor replacement, test/replace the control module or investigate for intermittent module communication faults per manufacturer procedures.
