  5. Disconnect the purge valve connector. Measure coil resistance across valve terminals with ohmmeter. Compare to specification. Very low resistance indicates internal short; open or very high indicates open circuit.
  6. With valve disconnected, check for shorts in harness: measure resistance from control wire to ground (should be high/OL) and to battery (should be high/OL) with key OFF. A low resistance indicates short to ground or B+ in the harness or at PCM.
