Causes

  • Blown fuse or faulty relay for camera washer circuit
  • Open or short in wiring to Camera Washer Actuator E
  • Corroded, loose or damaged connector at the actuator
  • Failed camera washer actuator/motor
  • Low or empty washer fluid (no operation)
  • Control module output driver fault or software error

Symptoms

  • Camera washer for the affected camera does not operate when commanded
  • Dash message or indicator related to camera washer fault may be present
  • Washer fluid not pumped to camera nozzles
  • DTC B010E stored in body/control module memory
  • Intermittent operation (works sometimes)

What to check

  • Confirm washer fluid reservoir level and condition
  • Scan tool: read freeze frame data, events, and confirm B010E is current/pending
  • Visual inspection of actuator, wiring harness, and connectors for damage or corrosion
  • Check related fuses and relays for continuity and correct seating
  • Perform active test (command washer on) with scan tool and watch for actuator response
  • Measure voltage and ground at actuator connector while commanding washer

Signal parameters

  • Key ON, actuator inactive: connector should show ground or battery reference as vehicle design permits (varies by manufacturer)
  • When commanded ON: supply side should be ~11–14 V at actuator connector (or ground side may switch to ground depending on driver type)
  • Actuator coil/motor resistance: typically low (single-digit to low double-digit ohms) — consult vehicle-specific data
  • No excessive voltage drop under load; voltage should remain near battery voltage when motor is commanded

Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Verify washer fluid level and filler cap; top up if low and clear codes, then retest
  2. Check and replace any blown fuse(s) and inspect washer relay operation
  3. Visually inspect harness and connector at the camera washer actuator for corrosion, pin damage, or water intrusion; repair as needed
  4. With connector disconnected, measure actuator motor resistance; if open or excessively high, replace actuator
  5. Reconnect and backprobe actuator connector. With a scan tool request washer ON and measure supply voltage and switching ground at the connector. If no command voltage/ground, test upstream wiring and module output
  6. If wiring is intact but actuator does not run, bench-test actuator by applying fused 12 V directly to verify mechanical operation; replace actuator if it fails
  7. If wiring is faulty (open/short/corrosion), repair wiring and connectors, then clear codes and perform full function test
  8. If electrical and actuator checks pass but code persists, inspect the controlling module for stored faults, update software if recommended, and consider module/driver replacement only after all wiring and actuator checks are complete

Likely causes

  • Faulty actuator motor windings or internal failure
  • Broken/shorted wire at a harness branch or near hinge (door/hood)
  • Corroded terminals or poor mating at actuator connector
  • Missing fuse or stuck relay preventing power delivery
  • Water ingress causing connector/actuator corrosion
