  3. With ignition ON (accessory) and HVAC operating, backprobe connector: verify reference 5 V supply and good ground at actuator connector. If reference or ground missing, trace to BCM/relay/fuse.
  4. Measure signal wire voltage while commanding actuator through its full travel (use scan tool actuator test or manually move flap). Signal should change gradually 0–5 V. If signal is stuck near 0 V, suspect short to ground.
  5. With connector disconnected, check continuity between the signal wire and chassis ground; low resistance indicates short in harness. Wiggle harness to check intermittent shorts.
  6. If wiring checks good, bench-test or swap with a known-good left intake actuator to confirm if potentiometer/servo is faulty.
  7. If actuator swap still shows fault at harness, inspect/repair wiring and connectors (repair damaged wire, replace connector, apply dielectric grease), then clear codes and retest.
  8. If wiring and actuator are good but fault persists, inspect BCM/HVAC control module outputs and grounds; consult wiring diagrams and consider module testing or replacement as last step.
