  3. With door closed and ignition on, monitor the door ajar input on a scan tool and observe changes while operating the latch and flexing the harness.
  4. Backprobe the connector at the latch/door switch: verify reference/pull‑up voltage and switch operation. With the switch actuated, check for expected change in voltage or continuity to ground per wiring diagram.
  5. Perform continuity check from the latch connector to the body harness/BCM connector with door open and closed. Look for shorts to ground or battery and for opens. Wiggle harness at the hinge to detect intermittent faults.
  6. If suspect connector corrosion or damaged pins, disconnect, inspect, clean or repair terminals, then recheck. Use dielectric grease after cleaning where appropriate.
  7. If wiring and switch check good, test ground(s) and supply to the associated module. Repair any poor grounds or power faults.
  8. If harness and switch are good and the signal is correct at the latch but the module still reports the fault, check the BCM/door module communications and consider module replacement only after confirming wiring and connectors.
