Causes

  • Open or short in the mirror vertical potentiometer wiring (open, short to ground or battery)
  • Corroded/damaged mirror connector or pin(s)
  • Failed vertical feedback potentiometer inside the mirror motor/assembly
  • Water ingress or contamination in the mirror housing or connector
  • Poor ground or reference supply to the mirror module or potentiometer
  • Faulty body control module or mirror control module (less common)

Symptoms

  • Driver mirror will not move up/down or moves intermittently
  • Mirror position memory may not store or recall correctly
  • Steering/driver memory features may return mirror to incorrect vertical position
  • Possible DTC lamp or message in vehicle info display related to mirror/function

What to check

  • Confirm DTC B2324 is stored and freeze-frame data (if available)
  • Visually inspect driver's mirror housing and connector for water ingress, corrosion, or damage
  • Check door harness at the A-pillar/door hinge area for chafing or broken wires
  • Verify related fuses and body module power/ground circuits are present
  • Attempt mirror vertical movement from switch while observing mirror behavior and listening for motor/noise

Signal parameters

  • Reference supply to potentiometer: typically ~5 V (key on, engine off) — measure at connector pin
  • Potentiometer output (wiper) voltage: should vary smoothly across approx. 0.5–4.5 V as mirror moves through full vertical travel
  • Potentiometer total resistance: typical fixed pot values are often 5 kΩ–10 kΩ (check service data)
  • Expected continuity: no short to battery or ground on signal or reference lines; open circuit indicates broken wire
  • Connector pin voltages should be stable with ignition on and change only on mirror movement

Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Retrieve and record fault code(s), clear codes, then re-run to confirm repeatable fault.
  2. Visual inspection: open mirror housing and inspect connector pins, wiring, and potentiometer area for corrosion, water ingress, loose pins, or broken wires. Inspect door hinge flex area and boot for chafing.
  3. With ignition on, backprobe the mirror connector: verify reference voltage (≈5 V) is present and a good ground is available.
  4. Operate the mirror vertical control while measuring the wiper (signal) voltage at the connector. The voltage should move smoothly across the travel range (approx. 0.5–4.5 V). If voltage is fixed, erratic, or absent, suspect wiring or potentiometer.
  5. Measure potentiometer resistance if accessible: with mirror disconnected and powered off, check resistance between end terminals and between each end and wiper while moving mirror. Values should change smoothly; open or erratic readings indicate failed pot.
  6. Check for short to ground or battery: measure continuity from signal/reference wires to ground and battery rails; repair any short circuits.
  7. Wiggle test wiring and connector while observing signal voltage and DTC status to find intermittent faults.
  8. If wiring and connector OK but sensor still bad, replace the mirror actuator/assembly or internal potentiometer per service manual.
  9. After repairs, clear codes and verify correct operation and that B2324 does not return.

Likely causes

  • Broken or chafed wiring to the driver's mirror connector
  • Corroded connector or bent pins at the mirror or door harness
  • Failed vertical feedback potentiometer in the mirror actuator assembly

Fault status

⚠️ Status
