What to check

Diagnostic algorithm

Connect a full-function scan tool. Record B2770 plus all related codes and freeze frame data. Note occurrence conditions.
Clear codes, operate affected systems, and see if B2770 returns. If intermittent, attempt to reproduce with key cycles, accessory loads, and while driving if safe.
Verify battery charge and charging system. Charge or replace battery if below spec and re-test.
Visually inspect BCM and harness: remove protective covers, look for corrosion, water stains, burnt components, or loose/bent pins.
With ignition ON, measure BCM supply and ground at the connector. Confirm proper voltages and low ground resistance.
Check for and repair any poor grounds or damaged wiring. Wiggle harness while monitoring for errors to find intermittent faults.
Monitor CAN/LIN network traffic with a scan tool or scope. Confirm messages to/from BCM and check for bus errors or noise.
If power, grounds and network are OK, check for available software updates or reflash the BCM per manufacturer procedure. Follow anti-static and programming precautions.
If reprogramming fails or code persists after verifying wiring, consider bench testing or replacing the BCM. Ensure replacement is correctly programmed/pinned to the vehicle and security systems reinitialized.
After repair or replacement, clear DTCs and verify all related functions and communications are restored. Document findings and any rework.
