Causes

  • Open circuit in solenoid coil wiring (broken wire, damaged insulation)
  • Short to ground or short to battery in solenoid circuit
  • Poor or corroded connector contact at solenoid or ABS module
  • Faulty rear-right outlet solenoid valve (coil open or shorted)
  • Internal driver transistor failure in ABS/ESP control module
  • Blown fuse or defective relay supplying ABS hydraulic unit

Symptoms

  • ABS and/or ESP warning lamp illuminated
  • Traction control and stability assistance disabled or limited
  • Brake/ABS behavior altered (ABS may not modulate rear-right wheel)
  • Possible diagnostic trouble code stored (C0095) and reduced vehicle stability control function
  • Noisy or abnormal brake modulation when ABS engages

What to check

  • Scan tool: read C0095 and any related ABS/ESP codes; view freeze frame and occurrence count
  • Inspect connector at rear-right outlet solenoid for corrosion, water ingress, bent pins, or loose latch
  • Visual inspect wiring harness from solenoid to ABS module for damage, rubbing, or repairs
  • Check ABS fuses/relays related to hydraulic unit power
  • Backprobe connector with ignition on while commanding solenoid via scan tool: observe supply and control signals
  • Measure solenoid coil resistance with connector disconnected (see Signal Parameters)

Signal parameters

  • Typical solenoid coil resistance: roughly 8–30 Ω (model-dependent) — consult vehicle data for exact value
  • Supply voltage to solenoid when activated: ~11–14 V (battery voltage) or pulsed via PWM depending on system
  • Control signal: often a switched/pulsed drive from ABS module (PWM frequency can vary; may be tens to several hundred Hz)
  • Typical activation current: hundreds of milliamps to a few amps (depends on coil resistance)
  • Allowable resistance tolerance and waveform characteristics vary by model — always compare to manufacturer specification

Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Connect a compatible scan tool, confirm C0095 is present and note freeze frame data and related codes.
  2. Visually inspect the rear-right outlet solenoid connector and harness for corrosion, moisture, damage, or loose pins. Repair or clean as needed.
  3. Check relevant ABS fuses/relays. Replace if blown and re-test. Investigate cause of blown fuse before replacing modules.
  4. With ignition ON and engine off, disconnect solenoid connector and measure coil resistance between the solenoid pins; compare to factory specification. Replace solenoid if out of range.
  5. Reconnect and backprobe connector. Command the solenoid ON/OFF with scan tool while measuring voltage between supply and control pins and to ground. Verify expected supply voltage and switching behavior (or PWM).
  6. Check continuity between solenoid connector pins and ABS module pins for opens. Also check for shorts to chassis ground or battery positive.
  7. If wiring and solenoid check good but no proper activation signal, suspect internal driver fault in ABS module. Confirm with secondary checks (swap with equivalent channel if allowed by manufacturer or consult technical service info).
  8. If solenoid is defective, replace solenoid (or hydraulic modulator assembly if non-serviceable). After repairs, clear codes, perform system bleed if hydraulic plumbing disturbed, and test drive to confirm fault not returning.

Likely causes

  • Corroded/loose connector at rear-right solenoid
  • Wiring harness damage (chafing, broken conductor) to the ABS module
  • Failed solenoid coil (open or short)
  • Internal driver/power stage fault in ABS/ESP control module

Fault status

⚠️ Status
Electrical fault detected in Rear Right Outlet Solenoid Valve circuit — open/short/intermittent/driver-stage failure. ABS/ESP may be degraded.
