Causes

What to check

  • Connect an OEM-grade diagnostic tool and read all stored and pending codes and freeze-frame data
  • Inspect valve connector and harness for corrosion, damage, chafing or water ingress
  • Check relevant fuses and chassis/circuit grounds for continuity
  • Visually inspect hydraulic/air lines and fittings for leaks or restrictions
  • Use the diagnostic tool to command/actuate the valve and observe response
  • Measure supply voltage and ground at the valve connector with key on and while the valve is commanded

Signal parameters

  • Supply feed present at connector with ignition ON (approx. battery voltage)
  • Control signal typically a switched 12V or PWM command from the control module (duty cycle varies with demand)
  • Valve solenoid coil resistance should be within manufacturer specification — check service data
  • When actuated from a diagnostic tool the valve should change state and system pressure should respond accordingly
  • Pressure sensor/feedback voltage should change smoothly with pressure; check for intermittent or out-of-range readings (consult service manual for exact voltages and resistance values)

Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Use a diagnostic scanner to read C1055 and any related codes; record freeze frame and clear codes.
  2. Reproduce the fault by cycling ignition and exercising the system or driving as required, then re-check codes.
  3. Visually inspect wiring, connector, fusible links and grounds related to the front axle pressure valve; repair any damage.
  4. Check fuses and measure battery voltage at the valve power pin and continuity to ground.
  5. With connector unplugged, measure valve solenoid resistance and compare with factory specification; check for open/short.
  6. Backprobing the connector, command the valve via diagnostic tool and observe voltage/ground commands and pressure response; watch for PWM duty change when commanded.
  7. If electrical checks pass but pressure does not change, inspect hydraulic/air lines, fittings and pressure sensor for leaks, blockages or contamination.
  8. If valve does not operate electrically or coil resistance is out of spec, replace the pressure regulating valve and retest.
  9. After repair, clear codes and perform function tests and a short road test to ensure the system responds normally; re-scan for returning faults.
