Causes

  • Open or shorted injector harness (between injector and PCM)
  • Corroded, loose or damaged injector connector or terminals
  • Failed fuel injector (internal short or open)
  • Blown fuse or loss of constant injector feed voltage
  • Poor or missing ground for engine/PCM
  • Faulty PCM or driver transistor on PCM

Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light (MIL) illuminated
  • Rough idle or misfire felt at cylinder 7
  • Decreased engine performance, hesitation or stumble
  • Hard starting or increased crank time
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Possible stumble under load or cold start issues

What to check

  • Retrieve freeze frame and live data—confirm P0207 and any related codes (P0200–P0208, misfire codes).
  • Visual inspection of injector #7 connector, wiring harness, and PCM connector for damage, corrosion, or loose pins.
  • Verify battery voltage is present at the injector feed pin with ignition ON.
  • Measure injector coil resistance with multimeter (at connector) and compare to spec.
  • Back-probe injector control pin while cranking/running to verify switching (pulse) from PCM.
  • Perform wiggle test on harness/connectors while engine runs or while monitoring signal to reproduce fault.

Signal parameters

  • Injector feed (constant +): ~Battery voltage (approx. 11–14 V with ignition ON).
  • Injector coil resistance (typical): high-impedance type ~10–18 Ω; low-impedance type ~2–5 Ω — consult factory spec.
  • Control signal: low-side switching by PCM — waveform switches between ~0 V (ground) when energized and near battery voltage when off.
  • Pulse width: varies with engine load and rpm — typically a few milliseconds at idle to much longer under load.
  • Injector driver impedance (PCM output): low when activated (conducting to ground), high when off; no sustained short to battery or ground.

Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Read codes and freeze-frame data; note engine RPM, temperature and conditions when code set.
  2. Visual inspection: check connector at injector #7 for corrosion, bent pins, water intrusion, or damaged wiring; repair obvious damage.
  3. Check fuse(s) and relay(s) related to fuel injection/PCM power circuit.
  4. With ignition OFF disconnect connector and measure injector coil resistance across terminals; compare to spec. If out of range, replace injector.
  5. With ignition ON (engine OFF) verify battery voltage at the injector feed terminal. No voltage indicates supply or fuse/relay issue.
  6. Start engine or crank while back-probing the injector control terminal. Use a digital scope or multimeter (set to frequency or duty where possible) to confirm pulsed ground switching by PCM. Look for clean square pulses; absence indicates driver or wiring fault.
  7. If pulse is present but injector not functioning, bench-test or swap injector with a known-good unit to determine if injector is faulty. If code follows injector, replace injector.
  8. If no pulse at PCM connector, check continuity/resistance between injector control pin and PCM pin; inspect for shorts to battery or ground. Repair wiring as required.
  9. If wiring is good and PCM output remains absent or stuck, test other PCM outputs and grounds. Replace PCM only after eliminating wiring and injector faults.
  10. After repairs clear codes, perform test drive and verify no return of P0207 and that misfire/fuel delivery symptoms are resolved.

Likely causes

  • Damaged or corroded connector at injector #7
  • Broken or shorted low-side control wire between injector and PCM
  • Failed injector coil (open or short)
  • Poor ground or low battery supply to injector feed
  • Intermittent connector/wiring fault

Fault status

⚠️ Status
P0207 — Injector #7 Control Circuit: PCM detected a fault in the electrical control circuit for injector 7 (open, short to ground, short to battery, high resistance, or intermittent).
