P0245 — Turbocharger/Supercharger Wastegate Solenoid A - Low

Causes

• Damaged, corroded, or disconnected solenoid connector
• Short to ground in the solenoid control wiring
• Open or high-resistance wiring between ECM and solenoid
• Blown fuse or poor power/ground supply to the solenoid or ECM
• Faulty wastegate solenoid (coil internal fault)
• ECM driver fault or internal short in the control circuit

Symptoms

• Reduced engine performance and lower boost pressure
• Check Engine Light (MIL) illuminated with P0245 stored
• Possible limp/limited power mode
• Whistling or different turbo/supercharger behavior under load
• Poor throttle response or hesitation during acceleration

What to check

• Read freeze-frame and live data for boost and solenoid command states
• Confirm battery voltage and main power/ground integrity
• Visually inspect solenoid connector, pins, and harness for damage or corrosion
• Check related fuses and relays for continuity and correct operation
• Measure voltage at the solenoid connector with key ON and while commanded by the ECU
• Measure solenoid coil resistance (compare to manufacturer specification)

Signal parameters

• Expected control signal: ECU typically supplies a switched/PWM voltage to the wastegate solenoid; check manufacturer data for exact frequency and duty range
• At rest (ECU not commanding) connector voltage typically near 0 V or low depending on circuit design
• When commanded ON, measured voltage at solenoid should switch toward battery voltage or show PWM duty cycle; values below expected indicate low-voltage fault
• Typical coil resistance often in the low ohm range (example 6–30 Ω) — verify exact spec before replacing
• Current draw increases when solenoid is energized; unusually low voltage with command can indicate short to ground or insufficient supply
