Causes

  4. Measure injector #2 electrical resistance; compare to specification and to other injectors. If out of range, replace or bench-test injector.
  5. Swap injector #2 with another cylinder (if accessible) and re-run contribution test. If problem follows injector, replace it.
  6. Check fuel supply: measure fuel rail pressure under static and dynamic conditions and inspect for clogged filters or supply restrictions.
  7. Perform a compression test or cylinder leakdown on cylinder 2 to rule out mechanical causes (valve/piston/ring problems).
  8. Verify cam/crank timing and sensor signals with an oscilloscope; correct timing or replace faulty sensors as needed.
  9. Check for intake leaks, EGR faults or turbo boost issues that could affect cylinder balance; repair as needed.
  10. After repairs, clear codes and perform a road test/monitoring to confirm cylinder contribution is restored and code does not return.
