  4. Monitor live data during a cold start: misfire counters, fuel trims, crank/cam signals, and fuel pressure.
  5. Check fuel pressure and volume. If low or slow to build, diagnose fuel pump, filter, pressure regulator, or rail leak.
  6. Perform injector tests (noid/activation) and consider swapping suspect injector with another cylinder to see if misfire follows.
  7. Perform a cylinder compression or leak-down test to rule out mechanical issues.
  8. Inspect intake manifold gaskets, vacuum lines, PCV and throttle body for leaks or contamination that affect initial mixture control.
  9. Verify crankshaft/camshaft sensor signals and timing; check for timing chain/belt jump or variable timing faults.
  10. If tests are inconclusive, check for PCM software updates or known technical service bulletins; consider manufacturer-specific diagnostic procedures.
  11. Clear codes and perform multiple cold starts to confirm repair; document conditions that cause recurrence.
