Causes

  • Damaged or corroded wiring or connector for electric turbo/supercharger control B
  • Open or shorted control solenoid/actuator (electric turbo/supercharger actuator)
  • Blown fuse or faulty relay that supplies the actuator
  • Poor/chafed ground or high resistance power feed
  • PCM/ECU output driver fault or internal software fault
  • Mechanical fault in turbo/supercharger preventing correct control (stuck actuator, seized vane)

Symptoms

  • Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) / check engine light illuminated
  • Reduced engine power or limp-home mode due to limited boost
  • Poor acceleration and reduced throttle response
  • Erratic or inconsistent boost pressure; boost may be too low or too high
  • Possible unusual turbo/supercharger noises or actuator binding

What to check

  • Read stored freeze-frame data and pending codes with a diagnostic scanner
  • Visually inspect wiring, connectors, and actuator for corrosion, damage, or loose pins
  • Check fuses and relays related to the boost/actuator circuit
  • Attempt to command the actuator with a scan tool and observe response
  • Inspect turbo/supercharger mechanically for seized vane or linkage problems
  • Check battery condition and charging system voltage

Signal parameters

  • Power supply to actuator: ~12 V (nominal battery voltage) when fused supply present — verify with key on/engine off
  • Ground path:
  • Control signal: typically PWM or switched driver from PCM — duty cycle varies 0–100% when commanded, frequency often in the 100–500 Hz range (consult model-specific service data)
  • Actuator coil/solenoid resistance: model-specific; typical range tens to low hundreds of ohms — consult factory spec before replacing
  • Look for intermittent voltage drops or open/short readings using a digital multimeter or oscilloscope; compare with live data from the scan tool

Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Connect an OBD-II scanner and record DTC P132D plus any related codes and freeze-frame data
  2. Clear codes, then perform a road or active test to reproduce and capture live boost and actuator data
  3. Perform visual inspection of wiring, connector seals, and actuator mounting; repair any physical damage
  4. Check related fuses and relays; replace if blown or suspect
  5. Backprobe the actuator connector: with ignition on, verify fused power supply present, good ground, and control signal from PCM while commanding the actuator with a scanner
  6. Measure actuator resistance with the connector disconnected; compare to service specification. Replace actuator if out of range or open/shorted
  7. If supply or ground is missing or high resistance, trace and repair wiring harness; repair corroded connectors and restore proper grounds
  8. If wiring and actuator check good, use an oscilloscope to verify PWM duty and waveform while commanding the actuator; look for erratic or clipped signal indicating driver fault
  9. If PCM driver suspected after eliminating wiring and actuator faults, check for software updates/TSBs and consider PCM bench testing or replacement per factory procedure
  10. After repairs, erase codes and perform final verification drive; confirm boost control and absence of P132D

Likely causes

  • Wiring harness damage or corroded connector at the actuator
  • Failed control solenoid/actuator (open/short or internal failure)
  • Blown fuse or faulty relay in the actuator power circuit
  • Poor ground connection or battery voltage issues

Fault status

⚠️ Status
