Causes

Diagnostic algorithm

  2. Visually inspect battery, cables, main fuses, fusible links and chassis/engine grounds. Clean and tighten as needed.
  3. Measure battery voltage (key off) and charging voltage (engine running). If charging >14.8 V, investigate alternator/regulator.
  4. With a DVOM (and oscilloscope if available) measure the RKE/BCM power pin voltage at the module connector (key off and running). Watch for spikes and sustained high readings.
  5. Disconnect aftermarket accessories and retest. If fault only occurs when accessory connected, repair aftermarket wiring.
  6. Inspect and repair any damaged wiring or corroded connectors to RKE/BCM; secure grounds and terminals.
  7. If wiring and charging system are within specification, perform module reflash/diagnostic procedures per dealer info or replace RKE/BCM per manufacturer guidance.
  8. Clear codes and road test/operate RKE repeatedly to confirm repair; verify no recurrence and no related codes.
