Causes

  • Broken or disconnected wiring in injector group D harness
  • Corroded/damaged injector connector(s) or pins
  • Blown fuse or faulty fuel/injector power relay
  • Faulty injector(s) with open coil
  • Faulty ECM/injector driver output
  • Water intrusion or contamination in connectors

Symptoms

  • Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)/Check Engine Light ON
  • Rough idle or engine misfire(s) affecting cylinders in group D
  • Reduced engine power, hesitation or stumbling under load
  • Hard starting or no-start condition if entire group is disabled
  • Poor fuel economy and elevated tailpipe emissions
  • Stored misfire or fuel trim-related codes in addition to P2155

What to check

  • Read stored codes and freeze-frame data with a scan tool
  • Check live data for injector pulse, group status, and fuel trims
  • Visually inspect injector harness, connectors, and ECM connector for damage or corrosion
  • Check related fuses and fuel/injector power relay
  • Backprobe injector group D connector(s) and measure supply voltage with key ON and during cranking
  • Measure continuity and resistance of wiring between injectors and ECM (ignition OFF)

Signal parameters

  • Expected injector power feed: ~battery voltage (approx. 11–14.5 V) with key ON
  • Injector driver output (low-side) when active: pulses to near 0–0.5 V; inactive floats near supply or open circuit depending on design
  • Open-circuit condition: infinite or very high resistance between injector terminal and ECM driver or between injector feed and battery
  • Typical injector coil resistance (varies by engine): ~1–16 ohms (check vehicle-specific spec)

Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Connect a scan tool; record freeze-frame and live data (injector status, misfires, fuel trims).
  2. Visually inspect connectors, wiring harness, and ECM area for damage, corrosion or signs of water ingress. Repair obvious issues.
  3. Verify fuses and power relays for injector/fuel circuits; replace if blown or faulty.
  4. With ignition ON (engine OFF), backprobe the injector group D feed terminal(s) and confirm battery voltage present. If no voltage, trace supply fuse/relay and inspect wiring to battery/IGN feed.
  5. Crank engine and monitor injector driver pin(s) with scope or voltmeter to see pulsed signal; absence of pulses indicates driver or wiring open.
  6. Remove connectors and measure continuity between injector terminals and ECM driver pins (ignition OFF). Repair any open or high-resistance circuits.
  7. Measure each injector coil resistance; replace any injector with open coil.
  8. If wiring and injectors are good, test ECM driver channel (bench test or substitute ECM if available) — if driver is faulty, replace ECM per manufacturer procedure.
  9. After repairs, clear codes, perform functional/relearn procedures if required, and road test to verify repair. Monitor for recurrence.

Likely causes

  • Open or high-resistance feed or return conductor serving injector group D
  • Loose, bent or corroded connector pin at injector harness or ECM
  • Blown fuse or failed relay supplying injector group power
  • Failed injector driver channel inside ECM
  • One or more injector coils internally open

Fault status

⚠️ Status
Injector Group D power supply or driver circuit open — ECM not detecting expected injector power/pulse for group D.
