  • Inspect connectors and wiring at the battery interface module for corrosion, bent pins, water ingress or damage
  • Confirm vehicle VIN, region, and build options match module part number and calibration

Signal parameters

  • Battery pack state-of-charge (SOC) message ID and expected broadcast period (e.g., 100–1000 ms typical)
  • Pack voltage and current message identifiers and range checks (no out-of-range values)
  • Battery temperature sensor values and valid ranges
  • Message source ID (module address) expected for battery interface control module
  • Message CRC/format/version field if present (compare to expected software revision)

Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Capture and save live data and the freeze frame from all hybrid-related modules using an OE-capable scan tool
  2. Compare software/firmware part numbers and calibration IDs for battery interface module and hybrid control module to factory baseline or TSBs
  3. Check service history for recent module replacement or software updates; if reflash occurred, verify update completed successfully
  4. Inspect physical connectors and harness to battery interface module; repair any corrosion, damaged wires, or poor pin contact
  5. If software mismatch is confirmed, obtain correct OEM software/calibration and reprogram the battery interface module and any dependent modules per manufacturer procedure
  6. After reprogramming, clear DTCs and perform a full system self-test and road test to verify code does not return
  7. If code persists after correct software and good wiring, consult OEM technical support for possible module replacement or gateway configuration changes; replace module only if OEM advises or if module fails bench diagnostics
