  • Measure continuity of coax from radio connector to antenna base (expect low resistance; infinite = open)
  • Check for voltage at the antenna power lead (if amplifier uses a power feed) and proper ground continuity

Signal parameters

  • RF signal strength: measurable RF level at radio antenna input when near a station; if open, RF = no measurable signal

Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Confirm symptom and reproduce: attempt to tune AM/FM and note behavior; record stored U1941 and any related codes.
  2. Visual inspection: check antenna mast, base, cable routing, and both ends of connectors for corrosion, damage or disconnection.
  3. Check fuses: locate and verify fuses for radio/antenna amplifier; replace if blown and retest.
  4. Verify power/ground: with ignition ON, back-probe the antenna power/control lead at the antenna or amplifier connector; confirm expected voltage and ground continuity.

  9. Clear code and road-test: erase the code, verify normal reception and that U1941 does not return.
  10. If code persists after wiring and antenna verification, consider fault in radio/infotainment module and consult manufacturer service information for module testing.
