Check connector locks and pin condition. 4) Check fuses and relays feeding the BCM. Replace any blown fuses only after determining cause. 5) With a DMM, measure BCM supply voltage(s) and ground(s) at the module connector; repair poor power/ground connections. 6) Check CAN/LIN communication: verify bus voltages and continuity; isolate sections to identify shorts or open circuits. 7) Eliminate aftermarket devices or recent repairs that may affect the network. 8) Using an OEM-capable scan tool, attempt to communicate with the BCM; note if module responds, reports internal faults, or requires reflash. 9) If power/ground and bus are good but BCM reports internal errors or is non‑responsive, attempt a manufacturer-approved software reflash/reprogram following service procedures. 10) If reflash fails or BCM still reports internal faults, consider module replacement. Follow vehicle manufacturer procedures for module coding, immobilizer/key programming, and network enrollment. 11) After any repair or reprogramming, clear codes and road-test to confirm fault does not return. If fault returns, escalate to advanced module bench testing or manufacturer technical support.
