Diagnostic algorithm

Record DTC and any related codes; clear codes and attempt to reproduce the fault to confirm persistence.
Visually inspect antenna assembly, connectors, and visible wiring for damage, water, or corrosion. Check door jambs, trunk, roof, and under trim where harness passes.
With ignition off, disconnect the antenna connector. Check continuity from the suspected antenna feed/signal pin(s) to chassis ground. Low resistance indicates a short to ground.
With connector disconnected, measure resistance of antenna element to ground and compare with expected (manufacturer) values; if unknown, expect high resistance/open. If short present only with connector connected, inspect connector/body mating area.
Reconnect and backprobe the feed with a multimeter. With ignition on (or as specified), confirm correct supply voltage and check for voltage collapse to ground when fault is present. Wiggle harness and connectors while monitoring to find intermittent shorts.
If harness short is suspected, isolate sections by disconnecting intermediate connectors and rechecking continuity to ground until the shorted segment is located.
Repair wiring (replace damaged sections, repair chafed insulation, secure connectors, reseal and replace corroded connectors) or replace antenna assembly if internal short is found.
After repair, clear DTCs, perform relearn/initialization if required by vehicle, and verify repair by function test and road test to ensure code does not return.
If wiring and antenna check good, consider BCM or antenna module replacement only after ruling out wiring and connector faults. Follow manufacturer procedures for module replacement and programming.
