Causes

  • Faulty right rear sidemarker plate (LED module or lens/plate assembly)
  • Open or shorted wiring in sidemarker circuit
  • Corroded or damaged connector at sidemarker or chassis ground
  • Poor ground or intermittent connection
  • Body control module (BCM) output or software fault
  • Water ingress or corrosion in the sidemarker assembly or wiring harness

Symptoms

  • Right rear sidemarker not illuminating or flickering
  • Instrument cluster or vehicle messages about lamp failure
  • Intermittent operation of right rear sidemarker
  • Possible stored or active B1119 fault with related lighting behavior

What to check

  • Visually inspect right rear sidemarker plate for damage, corrosion, or water ingress
  • Check connector at sidemarker for corrosion, bent pins, or loose fit
  • Operate parking lights and observe right rear sidemarker response
  • Scan BCM for B1119 and any related codes; note freeze frame data
  • Measure supply voltage and ground at the sidemarker connector with lights on
  • Check for continuity between BCM output and sidemarker connector

Signal parameters

  • Supply voltage at sidemarker with lights ON: ~12V (battery voltage under load)
  • Ground continuity: near 0 ohms from sidemarker ground to chassis
  • Module output voltage or PWM signal from BCM (if applicable) when lights ON
  • Current draw of sidemarker assembly (LEDs typically low current; compare left vs right)
  • Resistance of sidemarker lamp/plate assembly (in-circuit or disconnected)

Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Read and record DTCs and freeze-frame data with a capable diagnostic scanner; note whether fault is active or history.
  2. Visually inspect the right rear sidemarker assembly, lens, and connector for damage, corrosion, or moisture. Repair or replace as needed.
  3. With socket disconnected, measure resistance of the sidemarker lamp/plate assembly; compare to known-good or the left side. Replace assembly if open or out of specification.
  4. Reconnect and measure voltage at the sidemarker connector while parking lights are ON. Verify proper supply voltage and good ground.
  5. If voltage is absent, back-probe wiring toward the BCM to find open/short. Repair damaged wiring or connectors and re-test.
  6. If supply and ground are good but lamp does not light, check BCM output using oscilloscope or scanner capable of monitoring output/PWM signals. If BCM output is absent or faulty, inspect BCM connector and fuses/relays.
  7. After repairs, clear codes and retest operation over a drive or lamp cycles to confirm fault does not return.
  8. If intermittent or unexplained failures persist, consider replacing the sidemarker plate assembly first (common failure point on LED units) before module replacement; consult manufacturer service info for BCM replacement procedures.

Likely causes

  • Corroded connector at right rear sidemarker plate
  • Open/short in wiring between BCM and sidemarker
  • Failed LED plate (common on LED-type sidemarkers)

Fault status

⚠️ Status
Right rear sidemarker plate circuit fault detected. Could be lamp/module failure, wiring/connector fault, or body module output/communication issue.
