Causes

  • Faulty or mechanically damaged 'Enter' button or switch assembly
  • Broken, shorted or corroded wiring or connector to the button
  • Poor ground or loss of supply to the Entertainment & Leisure Module
  • Intermittent or failed module input circuitry (internal PCB fault)
  • Software/firmware error or configuration mismatch in the module
  • CAN/LIN bus communication errors affecting button reporting

Symptoms

  • 'Enter' button not responding when pressed
  • Intermittent operation of menu selection or inability to confirm selections
  • Multiple button inputs failing or sporadic behavior of the infotainment
  • Stored or recurring B11AC DTC present after clearing
  • Possible other infotainment or steering-control related faults logged

What to check

  • Scan tool: read all stored DTCs and freeze frame/live data from the Entertainment & Leisure Module
  • Attempt to reproduce symptom and note when fault sets (cold/warm/after moisture exposure)
  • Visual inspection of the 'Enter' button, bezel and wiring harness for damage or corrosion
  • Check fuses and battery/ignition supply to the module
  • Inspect and wiggle test connectors while monitoring live data for changes
  • Check CAN/LIN bus health and related modules for communication faults

Signal parameters

  • Switch closed-to-ground or to signal reference when pressed (expected low resistance)
  • Open-circuit voltage on switch return when released (pull-up voltage typically 3–12 V depending on design)
  • Debounced digital input to module: single transition per press (no rapid chatter)
  • CAN/LIN message: button press reported as a discrete bit/byte change in the infotainment module messages
  • No short to battery or ground on the input circuit when button not pressed

Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Connect a diagnostic tool capable of Land Rover modules; read and record all codes and freeze frame data.
  2. Clear the code, then reproduce the fault by operating the 'Enter' button while watching live data for the button input or related CAN message.
  3. Perform a visual inspection of the button and surrounding area for contamination, damage or moisture. Operate the button and observe for mechanical sticking.
  4. Inspect connector at the switch and at the Entertainment & Leisure Module. Look for bent pins, corrosion, water ingress and secure mating.
  5. With ignition on, back-probe the switch signal and reference lines. Measure voltage at rest and when pressed; confirm expected pull-up/pull-down behavior and no intermittent drops.
  6. Perform continuity and resistance checks on the wiring between the switch and module. Wiggle the harness to reproduce intermittent faults.
  7. Check module supply and ground voltages at the connector; verify fuses and battery condition. Repair any supply/ground issues and retest.
  8. If wiring and switch check good, perform module input diagnostics/actuator tests with the diagnostic tool. Review software/firmware level and known service bulletins.
  9. If diagnostics indicate internal module fault or corrupted software, attempt module reset or reflash per manufacturer procedure.
  10. If required after all checks, replace the faulty button assembly or replace/module repair as last resort. After replacement, clear codes and verify correct operation across multiple cycles.

Likely causes

  • Worn or stuck mechanical switch contact in the 'Enter' button
  • Loose or corroded connector pin at the button or module
  • Open or short in the harness between the switch and module
  • Module input circuit degraded or intermittent
  • Missing fuse or low battery/supply voltage to the module

Fault status

⚠️ Status
Entertainment & Leisure Module — 'Enter' button circuit/input fault detected (open/short/intermittent or communication error).
