  6. If position sensor is a potentiometer: measure resistance/voltage across its terminals through travel to confirm smooth change; if encoder/Hall sensors: verify clean digital signals
  7. Check motor operation by applying 12 V directly (bench or very short test in-vehicle) to confirm motor/gearbox turns smoothly (observe current draw). Do not run for extended periods without load testing and safety precautions
  8. If wiring/connectors and motor test good but sensor readings are invalid, replace the position sensor or seat motor assembly as per service information
  9. If mechanical damage found, repair or replace damaged components (gearbox, drive cable, stops) and retest
  10. After repairs, clear codes and perform seat module relearn/calibration procedure per manufacturer service instructions; re-scan for codes and verify correct travel and sensor values
