Diagnostic algorithm

  2. Verify vehicle battery voltage is healthy (12.4–12.8 V at rest). Low battery can affect tests.
  3. Visually inspect fuses and relay associated with the affected window circuit; replace if blown and retest.
  4. With door closed, cycle the window while watching/feeling for relay operation; if relay does not click, remove and bench-test or swap with identical relay.
  5. Probe the relay output terminal or motor connector while commanding the window up/down from the switch or scan tool. Confirm expected voltage appears on output when commanded.
  6. If no output voltage but command is present at module, check wiring/connector continuity between module/relay and motor. Repair any open or shorted wiring.
  7. Measure motor current while operating. Excessive current indicates motor or mechanical binding — inspect regulator/sash and lubricate or replace motor/regulator as required.

  9. If wiring, motor and relay test good, suspect BCM/door control module driver fault. Verify software/calibration and consider module reflash or replacement as recommended by manufacturer.
  10. Clear codes and perform several operational cycles to confirm repair; monitor for reoccurrence and log any intermittent behavior.
