HUMMER B — Body

Navigation Display Head (NDH) Auxiliary Input Malfunction

Brand: HUMMER
Type: B — Body
AI status
Completed
ready
Completed 100%
Page language: EN

Causes

  • Loose, corroded or disconnected AUX connector at the NDH or intermediate jack
  • Damaged or shorted AUX cable or aftermarket adapter (3.5 mm, RCA, HDMI, etc.)
  • Open or short in wiring harness (chafing, water intrusion)
  • Failed ground or supply to NDH
  • Internal NDH hardware or input-sensor failure
  • Incorrect configuration or incompatible external device

Symptoms

  • No audio or video when AUX source is selected
  • Intermittent audio/video dropouts from the AUX source
  • Static, distorted or very low-level AUX audio
  • Error message or indication on the navigation/display head
  • AUX source not recognized or unable to select AUX input

What to check

  • Verify the customer’s reported symptom and attempt to reproduce with the same external device and cable
  • Check for other related DTCs in audio, body, and communication modules
  • Visually inspect AUX connectors, jacks and harness for damage, corrosion or water
  • Check fuses and power/ignition feeds to the NDH
  • Verify ground integrity at the NDH (good physical ground connection)
  • Test with a known-good external device and known-good cable

Signal parameters

  • Accessory/supply voltage to NDH: ~10–14 V with ignition/accessory on
  • Ground continuity: near 0 Ω (low resistance) between NDH ground and chassis
  • AUX audio (L/R): expect line-level AC signal when playing source (typical ~0.5–2.0 Vrms); presence of AC waveform indicates valid source
  • Composite video (if fitted): ~1.0 Vpp video signal when source active
  • No direct short to ground on AUX signal lines when device is disconnected (check for near 0 Ω short)

Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Confirm DTC is current or stored. Record freeze frame data if available and note whether the condition is continuous or intermittent.
  2. Reproduce the complaint using the customer’s device and a known-good device and cable to isolate the external device as the cause.
  3. Inspect the AUX connector and wiring visually for damage, corrosion, loose terminals, and evidence of water intrusion.
  4. With the accessory on, verify NDH supply voltage and ground at the connector. Repair any power or ground faults before proceeding.
  5. Measure AUX signal lines with an oscilloscope or multimeter while playing a test tone/video from a known-good source. Confirm expected line-level signals and DC bias where applicable.
  6. Check continuity of the AUX input conductors back to the NDH and inspect for shorts to ground or battery. Repair any harness damage.
  7. Swap in a known-good cable/jack or temporarily bypass any aftermarket adapters and retest.
  8. If harness and external device are good, perform module software check and reflash/update NDH software per factory procedure if available.
  9. If the fault persists after wiring and software checks, consider replacement of the NDH or its input board; confirm repair by clearing DTCs and retesting multiple cycles.

Likely causes

  • Loose or corroded connector at the NDH or in-line jack
  • Bad/failed AUX cable or external device connected to the input
  • Wiring harness damage (short to ground or open)
  • NDH input circuitry failure
  • Power/ground issue to the NDH

Fault status

⚠️ Status
DTC B2475 is set when the navigation/display head detects an abnormal condition on the auxiliary input circuit (open, short, invalid signal level, or communication fault). The code may be stored as current or intermittent. A successful repair should clear the code and prevent reoccurrence.
🟡 Repair difficulty: Medium
⏱️ Diagnostic time: 0.5-2.0 hours
