Diagnostic algorithm

  1. Connect a diagnostic scanner, confirm B282400 is active and note freeze‑frame data. Clear DTC and attempt to reproduce.
  2. Inspect the front microphone assembly and connector for physical damage, moisture, or debris. Reseat the connector.
  3. With ignition on, measure DC bias voltage at the microphone connector pin(s). Compare to specified range. If no bias, trace back to fuse/power supply and module output.
  4. Check continuity between the microphone connector and the audio/infotainment module pins. Look for opens or high resistance and repair any wiring faults.
  5. Check for shorts to power or ground on the microphone signal/reference wires using an ohmmeter and backprobing (power off).
  6. If wiring and connectors are good but no audio or incorrect signals, bench‑test or substitute a known good microphone (or connect a test microphone) to verify mic element function.
  7. Inspect and test the receiving module (infotainment/AVN/BCM). If module fails to provide bias or detect the microphone, consider module diagnostics, reprogramming, or replacement per factory procedure.
  8. After repairs, clear DTCs, verify microphone operation with a call/voice command and perform a road/test verification. Re-scan to ensure B282400 does not return.
