- Check termination resistance across CAN_H/CAN_L (vehicle OFF). Replace missing/incorrect termination resistors.
- If bus shows heavy error frames or a node in bus-off, isolate by disconnecting suspect modules or sections until traffic returns to normal; identify the faulty node.
- Inspect for corrosion or water intrusion at BCM and nearby components; repair and reseal as required.
- If wiring, power and bus integrity are good and BCM does not respond, verify software calibration and programming status; check for available updates or TSBs.
- Replace BCM only after confirming fault is internal; program/configure replacement module and recheck network operation and DTCs.
