Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump A Control Circuit High
Causes
- Short to battery voltage in pump control circuit
- Failed/intermittent charge air cooler coolant pump
- Corroded/loose connector or terminal

What to check
- Retrieve freeze frame and live data with a scan tool to confirm conditions when the code set
- Perform a complete visual inspection of pump, connectors, wiring harness, and nearby components for damage, corrosion, or pinching
- Inspect and test related fuses and relays for the coolant pump circuit
- Check connector pins for corrosion, bent pins, or pushed-out terminals
- Measure supply voltage and ground at the pump connector with ignition ON and while commanding pump ON via scanner
- Check for continuity and shorts between pump control wire and battery positive/ground

- Check and record battery voltage with ignition ON and while pump is commanded to run
- With harness disconnected, measure resistance of the pump motor to ground and between supply and control pins; compare to spec — very low resistance or short to chassis indicates internal pump fault
- Backprobe the pump connector while commanding the pump ON; verify the control line voltage and/or PWM signal and ground are within expected ranges
- If control line is high when pump is OFF, inspect for short to battery on control wiring; if control line is high when commanded ON but pump does not run, check ground or motor condition
- Perform continuity and short-to-power/short-to-ground checks on wiring between pump and ECM/relay with connector disconnected; repair wiring as necessary
- Swap or bench-test relay (if applicable) and inspect associated fuses; replace suspect relay/fuse
- If wiring, connectors, relay, and pump check good, consider ECM or pump driver module fault — consult manufacturer service information before replacing ECM
- After repairs, clear codes, perform a functional test of the pump under all conditions, and verify no return of the code
