  4. With a scan tool, command the gear 4 solenoid and observe scanner data: verify solenoid activation, duty cycle, and any change in reported pressure. Note whether commanded changes produce expected sensor response.
  5. Measure solenoid coil resistance and compare with specification. Check continuity to the TCM and for unintended shorts to ground or battery voltage.
  6. If electrical checks pass but pressure response is incorrect, perform a hydraulic pressure test using a transmission pressure gauge at the appropriate test port(s) while commanding the circuit. Compare values to factory specs.
  7. Inspect and, if required, remove valve body to check for stuck valves, debris, or bore wear in the gear 4 pressure control circuit. Clean or replace valve body components as directed by service procedures.
  8. If valve body and solenoid replace do not correct the issue, consider TCM faults: reflash/update software or test/replace TCM per manufacturer guidance.
