What to check

Diagnostic algorithm
- Use a scan tool to confirm P0C82, capture freeze-frame and note related codes. Do not clear codes yet.
- Visually inspect sensor H connector, wiring harness routing, attachment points and battery pack entry for damage or contamination.
- With battery pack powered per manufacturer safety procedures, back-probe the sensor connector and verify reference voltage, signal voltage and ground while observing live data.
- Compare sensor H reading to other battery temperature sensors (A–G) — large disagreement indicates local sensor or harness fault.
- Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance between the sensor terminals. If service data available, compare to expected resistance vs temperature; otherwise look for open or short indications.
- Perform continuity checks from the sensor connector to the BMS connector to locate opens or shorts; wiggle harness while watching live data for intermittent faults.
- Repair or replace damaged wiring, terminals or connector pins. Clean and secure corroded connectors; apply dielectric grease where appropriate.
- If wiring/connector checks good but sensor reading still out-of-range, replace temperature sensor H or the affected battery module sensor assembly per factory procedure.
- After repair, clear codes, perform relearn/calibration if required by the manufacturer, and verify proper operation with test drive or pack cycling. Confirm no return of the code.
