Particulate Filter Pressure Sensor A Circuit Intermittent/Erratic
Causes
- Damaged or chafed wiring harness to pressure sensor
- Corroded or loose connector or pin(s) at the sensor or ECU
- Failed/aged pressure sensor (intermittent internal fault)
- Intermittent short to battery or ground
- Contamination or water ingress in sensor or connector

- Visually inspect sensor, tubing and connector for damage, corrosion, moisture or debris. Repair or replace damaged tubing/connectors as needed.
- With ignition ON (engine off), backprobe the sensor connector: verify ECU reference voltage (~5 V), measure sensor ground continuity to chassis, and measure signal voltage. Document values.
- Start engine and observe sensor signal while slowly varying engine speed. Wiggle the harness and connectors to attempt to reproduce erratic behavior. If signal drops out or jumps, suspect wiring/connector.
- If reference or ground is missing or intermittent, trace wiring to ECU and test continuity/shorts to battery and ground. Repair wiring faults (splice/replace harness) as required.
- If wiring and supply are good but signal is intermittent, substitute a known-good pressure sensor or temporarily bench-test the suspect sensor (where practical) to confirm failure.
