  5. Inspect physical connectors, wiring harnesses, and grounds for the gear shift module. Repair any damage or corrosion.
  6. Monitor CAN/LIN traffic while performing basic vehicle functions to confirm module alive messages and message frequency.
  7. If software mismatch is confirmed or suspected, obtain the correct, matching software/calibration from the OEM and perform a controlled reflash/program of Gear Shift Control Module B (and other modules if required). Follow OEM reprogramming procedure and maintain battery voltage.
  8. After programming, clear codes and perform a road test while monitoring module messages. Re-scan for stored codes.
  9. If incompatibility persists after correct programming, perform module bench tests or replace the module per OEM guidance. Consider checking for ECU hardware faults if software updates fail repeatedly.
  10. Document repairs and software versions installed for future reference.
