  4. With ignition ON, monitor CAN bus with a scan tool/OEM tool for IPC messages and any bus errors. Note missing or malformed frames.
  5. Use an oscilloscope to check CAN_H and CAN_L waveforms at the IPC connector: confirm proper recessive/dominant levels, clean edges, and no excessive noise or reflections.
  6. Check CAN bus resistance across CAN_H and CAN_L with ignition off. Expect approx. 60 Ω. Isolate segments if resistance is incorrect to find short/open.
  7. If wiring and bus look good, verify IPC software calibration/part number against OEM records. Reflash or program correct software if mismatched.
  8. If suspected IPC hardware fault (intermittent or no valid messages despite proper wiring and software), confirm by swapping with known-good IPC or following OEM module bench/test procedures.
  9. After repairs, clear codes and perform a functional test/road test while monitoring network data to confirm U0423 does not return.
  10. If other modules report errors or another module is identified as sending invalid data, troubleshoot that module per the same network and module-specific checks.
